We aim to offer a range of worship services in St Kentigern’s to allow people to worship God through different styles and at times which are appropriate. Being together matters to us, but we're not all trying to be the same. You're welcome to come along and take part in our worship services for yourself, and settle in the ones you feel are most helpful to you.
In this way our worship is taking into account the different views and feelings of worshippers. But all our worship, whatever the style, is aimed at sincerely offering praise to the God who has offered us life, forgiveness, and hope in Jesus Christ and who calls us to follow in devoted, faithful service. Undergirding our worship which tries to reflect the ways people worship is our commitment to a faith-filled response to God in Christ.
Special services
We arrange services from time to time and you should watch out for these in the Outreach newsletter and the Sunday service sheet.
Coffee before Sunday worship
We generally have tea and coffee on Sunday mornings, usually before the 11:15 service and you are welcome to come along a little early to enjoy tea and chat!
Involvement and suggestions
If you would like to help organise or be involved in any of these services or if you have suggestions for other worship services, either for this session or for later, please contact the minister.
Summer services
During June, July and August we have one service for everyone which begins at 10.30am. Children are welcome in worship for the first part of the service then leave, often to be involved in craft work while adults listen to the sermon. Usually everyone comes back together for a joint time of response in worship.
Sunday mornings
There are worship services every Sunday, and for the most part these start at 11:15
The Morning Service
This is the 11.15am service and usually begins with a time for everyone together. After that the children leave for Junior Church and we continue with an adult service. There’s a creche for youngest ones during this service though children who are happy to sit quietly with their parents are welcome to stay in if that’s felt best.
The Morning Service All-age Specials
From time to time there are special events, and on these days we worship together for our whole service.
First Tuesday Afternoon
There are worship services on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month at 1.45pm with tea and fellowship after.
Praise and Worship evenings
We hold special evening worship times generally on the first Sunday of each month, beginning at 6.30pm. Sometimes these are Praise and Worship evenings with a more contemporary feel; at others we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper; and from time to time there are special services for specific purposes.
Midweek service
We hold praise, prayer and study evenings once a month on Wednesday evenings usually beginning at 7:30pm with a time for fellowship after.
